2023 Projects
MOANA MARINE INSTALLS AN ADDITIONAL 2 SPECTRA LB-2800 REVERSE OSMOSIS WATERMAKING SYSTEMS ON REMOTE UTRIK ATOLL TO UPGRADE AND EXPAND EXISTING RO SYSTEM INSTALLED BY MOANA MARINE IN 2010 FUNDED BY U.S. DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR.
Utrik’s watermaking system powered by solar and wind power! The Utrik people celebrate clean, healthy water!
2022 Projects
INSTALLATION OF RO WATERMAKING SYSTEM ON EJIT ISLET IN THE MAJURO LAGOON.
Moana Marine installs 2 Spectra LB-2800 Watermaking units powered entirely by solar energy on remote island Ejit, to provide fresh, clean drinking water to the displaced Bikini Islanders living there. Bikini Atoll was rendered uninhabitable due to the US nuclear bomb testing program that took place there between 1946-1958.
2020 Projects
WORKING WITH THE BIKINI ISLAND KBE LOCAL GOVERNMENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PLANNING PHASE FOR SOLARIZING THE KBE TOWN HALL IN MAJURO AND INSTALLING A SOLAR POWERED REVERSE OSMOSIS WATERMAKING SYSTEM ON EJIT, HOME OF EXILED BIKINI ISLANDERS IN THE MAJURO LAGOON.
March 2020: Installation of Moana Marine’s state-of-the-art solar carports at Bikini Town Hall in Majuro with a 20 KW solar system to power their town hall building.
APRIL 2020 – SEPTEMBER 2022: Marshall Islands closes its borders due to Coronavirus. The Ejit RO installation was postponed until re-opening.
2019 Projects
MOANA MARINE TEAMS WITH TAOTIN TRADING IN TARAWA, KIRIBATI, TO INSTALL FIRST EVER REVERSE OSMOSIS WATERMAKING SYSTEM PAIRED WITH A POINT OF USE WATER DISPENSING UNIT IN BAIRIKI.
The solar powered watermaking system produces 3,600 gallons per day of pure drinking water with mineral and alkaline enhancement with a point of use water dispensing unit. Due to its great success, a second installation in Tarawa is underway.
MOANA MARINE CONDUCTS TECHNICIAN TRAININGS FOR IOM MAJURO AND IOM YAP, READYING THE TEAMS FOR DEPLOYING PORTABLE AQUIFER 360 WATERMAKING UNITS IN DISASTER AND DROUGHT RELIEF THROUGHOUT THE PACIFIC ISLAND REGION.
2018 Projects
INSTALLATION OF THE LARGEST SOLAR AND WIND POWERED R.O. PLANT IN RMI, OFF-GRID, ENEWETAK ATOLL, MARSHALL ISLANDS, MARCH 2018
Moana Marine designed and installed a fully off-grid hybrid solar and wind powered reverse osmosis watermaking system for the people of Enewetak Atoll. This project delivers reliable, clean drinking water to a remote community that has lived for decades with the legacy of nuclear testing, rising sea levels and intensifying drought.
The system combines a large solar array, wind turbine, advanced battery storage and high-efficiency Spectra watermakers to provide energy-secure drinking water independent of fossil fuels. The Enewetak project serves as a model for resilient, renewable-powered water infrastructure that can be replicated across vulnerable atolls worldwide.
2017 Projects
Prepared two Spectra LB-2800 units and a Moana Hybrid Solar/Wind mini-grid for Enewetak; supplied IOM with new portable Aquifer-360 units with Moana Solar Power Packs for rapid drought relief; coordinated maintenance and rapid-deployment readiness for 72 Aquifer-360 units across Majuro.
2015–2016 Projects
Installed a Spectra LB-800 plant on Ailuk Atoll powered by a Moana Solar Mini-Grid (and energized the airport terminal); delivered Ebon Atoll’s first Moana Solar Mini-Grid powering the Community Center; deployed Aquifer-360 units to Palau and across the Marshall Islands for emergency drought relief; hosted UNDP and RMI leadership at Utrik to review our successful solar-wind RO model.
2014 Projects & Kili RO Plant
United Nations–funded solar for Utrik Community Center (Nov 2014) and completion of Kili Island’s wind- and solar-powered RO plant producing 5,600 GPD for the exiled Bikini community—featuring a new RO building, well, wind turbine, PV array, and post-treatment (UV, pH balance, remineralization).
2013 Projects & Drought Response
Prepared parts and tools in our Port Townsend warehouse for Kiribati projects; delivered Aquifer-360 units and Moana Solar Power Packs to IOM/USAID and AusAID for rapid drought deployments; national leadership visits and site assessments advanced the Kili RO+renewables initiative; appointed RMI National Water Adviser; first Bergey 1-kW wind turbine installed on Abemama.
2012 Projects
Completed a five-day RO infrastructure assessment for KAJUR on Ebeye and facilitated the USAID/IOM handover of emergency Aquifer-360 units to the RMI government, launching our publicly documented “Climate Change Solutions.”
